This short shift kit reduces shift throw 20%. Extensive testing indicates that this is the ideal amount of reduction to maintain shifting accuracy and feel. We found that more than a 20% reduction in throw made the shifter feel "gummy" due to the extreme angle put on the shifter cables.
The kit includes a shift link extension that simply slips on the end of your existing factory lever thereby reducing shift throw distance. The extension is black oxide coated preventing corrosion and uses 3 locking set screws to ensure a secure long term connection. Heat shrink tubing is also included as an extra measure of security preventing dirt or dust contamination from entering the assembly.
No need to replace the whole shifter assembly or purchase a new shift knob. Install time is quick and easy taking less than an hour.

Short Shifter

I had the short shifter installed a couple of weeks ago. My first reactions were: Yes shift throws are shorter and that's nice. The difference in feel was enough to make me unsure of some of my shifts for a while. After about 10 days (I can be pretty thick at times) I began to notice that the shift into fifth was not such a reach for me. I also now notice that gear changes are quicker and niftier. The changes for me were subtle, at first. Now I am glad that I have the thing installed. A real improvement over stock.
I give it four out of five stars because for me it isn't a must have item. The product is well made and certainly works as advertised.
