After years of replaceing failed power steering fans on MINI Cooper's due to dirts and rock debris damage we decided to make a protective fan shield. Originally MINI put no fan cover on these power steering fans in the early years and then added a grill type cover in later years. Unfortunatly their solution only worked to keep large boulders out of the power steering fan. We decided to create a fan shield that actually deflects dirt and debris down and away from the fan. As you can see from the directional vent design as debris and dirts hit the fan sheild it will be deflected downward keeping it away from the MINI Cooper's pricy power steering cooling fan. If your fan fails it will cause the MINI Cooper's power steering pump to over heat and shut down. If this happens to many times the power steering pump will eventually fail permanently. The MINI Cooper power steering cooling fan typically costs about $170 to replace. The power steering pump is roughly $700 to replace. That being said spending $49 on the fan shield can go along way in making your MINI Cooper more reliable, safe and affordable in the long run.

worth buying it

The best available power steering fan shield i found in the internet. Its well built and easy to install. It took me 10 minutes to install it using a 10mm socket. My fan has a built in plastic shield already but i found a debris stuck inside. Adding this shield will give my fan an extra layer protection
appears to be a good product.

Product arrived as promised. Seems to be of good quality. No mini madness logo printed or engraved on product. Looks and feels strong enough to do the job for which it was purchased.
Easy Install to Protect Your Fan

Power Steering Fan Shield was super easy to install. After my Mini was up on ramps, it took about 5 minutes at a very relaxed pace to install. Check out George's video for details. Part has good quality and design. I do think the louver design will aid in keeping debris out. The part fits very nicely. I now worry far less about my power steering fan getting damaged by road debris and causing the subsequent and well documented overheating of the electric motor and pump.
