Do you want to gain 4-5 horsepower with only about five minutes work?
If you have the optional John Cooper Works air intake then you̢̮€ve got some work to do. When John Cooper Works created their Mini Cooper S airbox they neglected to use a high flow performance air filter. Unfortunately, their JCW Mini Cooper S air box still uses a paper filter element, which is very restrictive, significantly limiting airflow. Our replacement high flow velocity stack filter is a direct fit and installs in 5 minutes.
After the switch It felt as if the car was being shot out of a slingshot, it just took off! Testimonial of Mini Cooper S Owner.
The Madness Mini Cooper S High Flow Air filter gives you both increased airflow and reusability at a very low price. Considering that their restrictive/non-reusable John Cooper Works replacement paper filter costs $170 to replace, can you afford not to make the switch? The Madness high flow Filter can be cleaned so that it may be used for a very long time if properly maintained.
Kit includes instruction CD as well as some other modifications you need to do to increase the John Cooper Works intake airflow.
Lifetime warranty with a proven 4-5 HP gain.

The main difference I noticed is improved throttle responsiveness. With this filter the engine seems to draw more air, and more quickly, when you punch the accelerator even a little or, as desired, a lot.
A good quality part with an improvement you notice. Just a note when you're installing to really loosen the new metal clamp to allow the new filter to stretch around the factory fitting.

I installed this on my 2007 w/JCW kit in mere minutes. After the install I took the car for a test drive. I noticed more audible turbo noise as well as a slight increase in the seat of the pants gain. I will post additional comments in the near future to address fuel economy.
Thus far, I would do this install again.
