The Auto Sportplus control module
for the R55, R56 and R57 2nd gen new MINI adds several convenience features:
Automatically enable sport mode on start-up, automatically defeat start/stop engine
control on start-up, automatically enter any desired DSC mode on start-up and
Stealth Mode Accessory Control!
Each function can be enabled or disabled via the factory buttons, just hold
the appropriate button down for 5 seconds (to select DSC mode, one to three
quick taps of the DSC button are required). Accessories are controlled with
two quick taps on the appropriate button. After installation, all normal button
operation is maintained.
Features
Auto Sport Mode
Shortly after starting the car, this feature will enable sport mode without
having to press the button every time.
Start/Stop Defeat
Many non-US markets have start/stop technology. This feature puts the car in
whatever mode is desired shortly after start-up.
Auto DSC Mode Selection
This feature will automatically select whatever DSC mode is desired shortly
after engine start. This feature is compatible with both the enhanced traction
mode for starting on snow or gravel, as well as the new electronic differential
lock control (EDLC) found on some 2009 and later models.
Stealth Mode Accessory Control
Two quick taps on any of the control buttons will turn on or off the accessory
control channels. Now no one has to cut the dash to install switches for accessories!
For high current loads, this feature works perfectly with our 2- or 4-channel
high current relay module.
Button Switch Programming
No dip switches here! Each channel can be enabled or disabled by just holding
the button down for 5 seconds. As with all FES add-on modules, normal button
operation is maintained. You can change the settings as needed in moments. Once
the circuit is installed, you never need to turn a screwdriver to change settings
at all.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is any soldering involved?
No. Power is accessed via a fuse tap. A ground lug is attached to a 10mm bolt.
The signal wires are tapped via Posi-Tap connectors. No soldering, totally reversible.
Can this be detected
or traced by the dealers?
No. Since all the features can be turned off via the buttons, just turn them
all off before visiting the dealer. Just enable the features you want when you
drive away!
My second generation
MINI doesn't have the Sport Button. Will the Auto Sportplus add that to my car?
Sadly no. The Auto Sportplus contains a small microcontroller and input/output
drivers that mimic button presses. It doesn't involve any reprogramming of BMW/MINI
control modules. Because of this, it can only activate features that already
exist in the car.
